Monday, May 7, 2018

CEWiT is accepting sign ups for it's second year of the CEWiT Women's eMentor Program, a virtual mentor program for CEWiT student and alumnae affiliates during the 2018-19 academic year.

Two unique opportunities will be available, both matching female students with trained IU alumnae eMentors based on professional aspirations, common interests, and background. Mentors and mentees meet virtually at least once per month to share, discuss, and connect.

Alumnae eMentors will have the opportunity to share their knowledge, experience, and expertise with and to provide feedback to current IU students. IU student eMentees will gain professional insight, career guidance, and personal development from an IU alumna expert.

After a pilot of an e-mentor program lin 2017, CEWiT matched 119 students with eMentors during the 2017-18 academic year.  Recent participants expressed appreciation at the opportunity to share experience and professional knowledge:

"I love speaking with [my eMentor]. It definitely brightens my week and it's great to have someone to talk to about my goals. [She] helped me be more sure of myself." - Jessica

"This mentorship program is great. I'm going through a very critical part of my undergraduate career now and our last conversation has enabled me to gain the mental strength I need to get through this time. I'm quite excited for the future and the challenges that come my way."- Priya

"My mentor was very easy to talk to and I think I will continue to talk to her even after this semester.” ~ a former mentee"My eMentor seems very knowledgeable, relatable, and just a cool person! It was so inspiring hearing how she worked past adversity to get where she is today! "-Olivia

“I really enjoyed talking to her about how to approach her summer internship and how to think about taking advantages of broadening her leadership skills as well as her technical skills. It was something she had thought about, but didn’t know how to approach”. ~ a former mentor
