IU Associate Professor of Mathematics Education Dionne Cross was recently nominated by the School of Education for the national STEM Women of Color award. Cross was praised in the nomination letter for her "outreach work [which] plays a critical role in the outreach efforts of the School of Education. Simply put, there is no better example of a community-involved mathematics professor at Indiana University. Her involvement enacts the School of Education’s goals in our Long-Range plan by preparing excellent teachers, engaging in collaborative partnerships with P-12 schools and agencies, illuminating and improving educational theory and practice, preparing tomorrow’s educational leaders, and creating a diverse and inclusive environment for learning, research and service."
