The IU Center of Excellence for Women in Technology (CEWiT) officially launched in October, 2013. Join us on October 22 at 2pm in the Whittenberger Auditorium as we celebrate our first anniversary with cupcakes and a presentation from Omoju Miller from Google.  We will also be giving away two iPad Minis and six $50 gift cards to the IU Bookstore to IU Students who attend (students must bring their student IDs with them).

Omoju Miller is a Technologist, Educator and an Advisor, who has over a decade of experience in the technology industry. Currently, she is a Technology Portfolio Manager at Google where she leads non-profit investing in Computer Science. She is con-currently completing her doctoral degree in Computer Science Education at the UC Berkeley. She is a member of BEST (Berkeley Experts Systems Technology Lab). Her work deals with the intersection of creativity and cognition. She has a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science both from the University of Memphis, TN. She was recently featured in an NPR story about using machine learning to look for future entrepreneurs. She'll be presentingInventing the mythical creature: How to stay, lead, and delight in tech as a woman, in which she'll discuss changing the focus of the conversation from struggling for inclusion, to one that makes women full-fledged, authentic, and respected collaborators in technology.

The anniversary celebration will begin at 2:00pm in the Whittenberger Auditorium in the IMU. A reception will follow at 3:00pm in the Faculty Room of the University Club in the IMU.  We will have cupcakes, and students who bring their student ID can enter to win one of two iPad Minis or one of six $50 gift cards to the IU Bookstore.

This event is free and open to the public. However, we request an RSVP if you plan to attend so we can ensure there are enough cupcakes! Please RSVP via THIS FORM if you plan to attend.
